Alex is a long-serving member of the Rubettes, since their re-formation in the early 1980's. He's an Essex boy who started playing drums at the age of 15 and soon built up a reputation playing with a number of local bands in the legendary r&b Southend area! With a great solid style, he first tasted success in 1979, when teaming up with ex-Dr. Feelgood's manic guitarist in "Wilko Johnson's Solid Senders". Alex's close friendship with Bill – having played in the "Hurdy-Gurdy" band some years earlier – led to him joining the Rubettes and he has well and truly established his position. His "no-nonsense approach" is widely respected and he has become the driving force and backbone of the band's rhythm section.
