Bill Profile 003 06 2016

Bill is an original founder member and an unforgettable face of the “Rubettes” from the beginning. His infectious personality made him a firm favourite with Rubettes fans everywhere and he has been a major influence on the band over the years.

Born in East London, Bill started out at age 14, playing guitar in his very first group “The Sneakers”. With the advent of R&B┬ámusic, every band wanted a keyboard player, so he switched to piano and organ in the late 60’s/early 70’s and never looked back. It turned out to be a wise move for Bill, who after playing in many bands of his own, went on to record and tour with many artists before becoming a “Rubette” when the band was formed in 1974.

During his ‘semi’-retirement years, Bill joined Suzi Quatro’s band, recording and touring worldwide with them, and he is credited with playing on a number of of Suzi’s worldwide hits.

Bill re-joined The Rubettes in 1982, when the decision was made to reform the band and he has never looked backwards since then. Bill remains to this day as the second longest serving member of The Rubettes, dedicating almost 40 years of service to their music legacy. A ‘Rubette’ through and through, Bill is as passionate and enthusiastic about the music of the Rubettes today, as he was 42 years ago.

With a great rock ‘n’ roll keyboard style and exceptionally soulful vocals, he has strongly featured in the Rubettes live performances for many, many years. He always manages to bring a high level of energy to each and every show and with endless enthusiasm, Bill never gives anything less than 100% !
